It is just impossible to avoid the impact of technology, whether it is positive or negative. Technology has proven that we cannot ignore the ease it brings to our lives. Without technology our lives would be really difficult. We have become so accustomed to using technological advancements that at times we don’t even realize how dependent we are.

Education:

The advancements in technology have helped us in every field of life especially science. It has also helped students in a lot of ways. The internet has tons of information about everything. Service projects are available on the internet to help students in their coursework. Online learning programs and online libraries are the main sources that catch a student’s attention. Almost all the universities around the world are running online degree programmes for their off-campus students. Students, teachers and researchers have access to all sorts of data to analyse, interpret and utilize it.

Health

Medical science has found cure for almost all those diseases that were incurable a few decades ago. Numerous lives have been saved since the discovery of antibiotics and other medicines. The miracles medical science has achieved range from vaccines to stem cell production. The list is ongoing and we cannot be thankful enough to the medical science for immense ease it has brought in our lives by saving us from countless maladies spread around us.

Entertainment

Technology provides us with plenty of ways to occupy our time. Kids and teens especially are into the trend of playing games on computers, laptops or even smart phones. Radio was the first invention that aired various programmes for listeners ranging from music, news, plays etc. This led on to invention of TV which still remains as one of the popular ways of spending your time. It not only entertains us but also provides us with the latest news. The variety of programmes on different TV channels is more than enough to keep people occupied.

The Significance of Technology in Our Everyday Lives

0

[ad_1]

Different technological advances have always boggled the minds of men. But one thing is for sure, technology has always been there to help us in our everyday situations. Just think of how you would get food to stay fresh without the refrigerator. Indeed, technology has given us the power to sustain our rapidly increasing needs in order to survive.

Still not convinced? Here are some specific instances of how technology supports our everyday lives:

Work. In these days, who wouldn’t see a computer in the office? Other fields, such as in construction work, require the use of bulldozers and other equipment to help build those skyscrapers we see today. Different robots are being designed today to help with rescue and military missions to help us have secure lives. Truly, the wonders of technology continue to help in our working activities.

Transportation. Technology helps us if we want to go to different places. Nowadays, it is rare NOT to see cars on the road. Also, there are the new trains powered by electricity, which could travel long distances over a short period of time. Planes help us reach places we could get by on foot. Truly, technology marked its significance in this field.

Communication. There are different means to communicate with our friends and relatives nowadays. From the telephone to our state-of-the-art video call cell phones, technology is always there to help us be in touch with our loved ones. Even the deaf can hear with earpieces. Technology has paved its way through our hearts by letting us communicate with the persons we treasure.

Medical purposes. Medical science is one of the fields that really benefits from technology. It is easier to diagnose internal diseases through the help of certain machines such as the CT scan. It is also possible now to help persons with a failing heart live by attaching pacemakers to the body.

At home. Surely, household appliances are marvels of technology. You wouldn’t want to be wasting time handwashing your clothes when you have your washing machine to do that. You also wouldn’t want to sit in a hot room when an electric fan or air conditioner can cool you down.

Entertainment. Almost every household owns a television or even a radio now. They offer us entertainment in our homes while we relax. Also, there are many computer game consoles out there. Think of the fun and enjoyment you could have with these machines. Not only do we have to enjoy it by ourselves, but it could also turn into a bonding time with your friends and families.

Technology has always been a gift to our lives. It’s only up to us to use it well. If we can get things done faster and better, then it must be a present from the gods, right? But as always, we should never get too dependent on technology, because if ever these gifts fail us, we should always help ourselves strive to live on.

The Future of Blockchain Technology

[ad_1]

What is Blockchain?

The term blockchain has been used in numerous social and corporate conversations in recent years and everyone seems to have heard about blockchain technology, but a majority of the population actually has no idea what it actually means.

In order for us to clearly explain what blockchain technology actually means allow us to give you a brief breakdown about the history of how the transaction of money has evolved. Historically whenever people used to exchange valuable items there were middle men whose sole purpose was to record the authenticity of both parties and build trust between them. Currently these middle men are known as banks. The use of banks and brokers has continued over time and with the emergence of digital assets like stock, electronic money, and intellectual property the need for a more secure method has emerged. This is because digital assets are usually files within a computer that are therefore vulnerable to manipulation and theft. Thus the use of the blockchain technology enables parties to transact openly and transparently ensuring that the exchange is secure and efficient.

The Future of Bitcoin

Blockchain has the ability of completely disrupting the financial industry the same was social media disrupted mainstream media or the same way Betflix destroyed Blockbuster films. Blockchain technology has the potential of being used as a platform that provides financial services to everyone on the part of the world, this includes people in developing countries who may not have the access to traditional banking services and cannot afford the rates required to make large transactions. This technology has the potential of making major breakthroughs in nearly all major industries that are usually manipulated by big corporations.

The use of Blockchain technology in Education

Blockchain technology in education can be used to figure out the students that actually need the scholarships and those who can afford it. This is because a few students have been bypassing the system and getting financing. This would actually end up being detrimental to the needy students who end up dropping out or accruing a lot of debt that causes them to work for nearly.

Lastly, a huge number of the population may currently be hiding their heads in the sand as they wish blockchain to go away but this piece of technology is definitely going nowhere. In the near future we will all be trading using blockchain as part of our daily activities our great grandchildren will read about money and ATM machines just as how we read about barter trade and gold. It is therefore imperative that we jump on the bandwagon as soon as possible and get adjusted before we are forced to adjust.

Smart Cities: Harnessing the Power of Technology in Local Government

0

[ad_1]

The global economy is in constant turmoil, governments are challenged to provide levels of service that typically only private businesses can provide and disruptive technologies are transforming industry at a rapid pace. In this bold new era where change is unavoidable it is the innovative who are positioned to surely thrive.

In 2008, the global economy fell into recession; it was the most significant downturn since the Great Depression. Recovery has been a long and exasperating struggle; at times feeling like we are clinging to the edge of a cliff, desperately trying to hold on and weather-the-storm.

Some economists even predict we are on the verge of another global recession. Foreign and domestic factors are both significant contributors to the swelling pessimism; there is the unpredictability of Trump’s Tweets, the looming collapse of the Euro, the astonishingly low cost of crude oil, student loan debts suffocating young adults who are unable to contribute to economic growth and let’s not forget about the dreaded silver tsunami.

It’s fair to say the economic outlook for the United States and Canada is unsettling. As a result of financial uncertainty many government agencies across North America are seeing their budgets tightened, while expectations from constituents continue to rise. The public opinion towards government processes, civic services and budgetary spending has become progressively more volatile in recent years.

So, how does one do more with less? Well, when you consider that we live in a world where virtual reality, 3D printing, quadcopters, pocket-sized spectrometers, and self-driving cars are no longer simply things of science fiction, the answer may be staring us directly in the face.

There are a plethora of software solutions that assist with a wide range of government functions. The technologies available today disrupt the old ways of doing things; these are solutions that automate and streamline processes, compile and share information departmentally, increase citizen engagement and enable open governments.

Numerous communities across North America are seemingly transforming into smart cities overnight; governments are adopting innovative technologies as a means to become more efficient and generate new revenue. Even more uplifting is that these advancements in technology no longer simply cater to federal and state agencies, local governments are now consuming what has become repeatable and affordable technology solutions.

Optimism should not be confused with naivety. The challenges being confronted by governments are most certainly daunting and implementing change successfully warrants its own discussion, but regardless of these hurdles the solutions being developed out of necessity are truly inventive and inspiring. More and more government agencies seem eager to evolve, refusing to fear disruptive technology and instead utilizing it as an opportunity to prosper. Navigating through the complexities of this digital age is certainly no easy task, but in a world ripe for change to the innovative go the spoils.

How Blockchain Technology Is Making the World Better?

0

[ad_1]

Blockchain technology can help immensely in banks, insurance, health and pharmaceutical industry, supply chain of many sectors (agribusiness, luxury, international trade, distribution, wines, aeronautics, and automobile), music industry, energy, and real estate. Blockchains have the potential to replace most of the centralized “trusted third parties” including banking trades, notaries, land registry, etc. by distributed computer systems.

1. Medicines / Pharmacy

Blockchain technology can be used to improve drug integrity. If drugs can be clearly identified and tracked from production to consumption, it could save up to one million lives each year. Because DHL is already working with Accenture to establish a track-and-trace serialization system based on blockchain technology.

“At the moment, there are already more than 7 billion unique pharmaceutical serial numbers in the system. In addition, the system can now handle more than 1,500 transactions per second,” said Scott Allison, DHL’s President, Healthcare.

Allison has not only the capacity of the system in mind. For example, track-and-trace serialization should reduce costs, increase security and confidence, and eliminate error-prone data movement. The technology can add additional verified information to the element, which cannot be manipulated. The validation is carried out by all participants.

“THE SYSTEM NOT ONLY MEETS THE GLOBAL SERIALIZATION REQUIREMENTS, IT EVEN SURPASSES THEM,” Says Allison

2. Fashion / Fashion

The CGS project allows consumers to track the entire lifecycle of a garment. This brings together companies from the fashion, apparel and consumer goods sectors to work together. With this solution, consumers no longer need to rely blindly on the value in sustainability fashion. Blockchain technology allows tracking of sustainability and conformity of the garment

3. Cross-border payments

In developing and underdeveloped countries, access to capital for small food producers is often a big problem. Binkabi is a cross-border agricultural trading platform that is breaking new ground with the help of a block bridge solution from Sweet bridge. Thus, a system for fair commodity trading is to be developed.

A blockchain banking solution has recently been announced by IBM. This is intended to make international payments faster and more cost-effective.

4. Food safety

In the area of food safety, IBM is working with food manufacturers Dole, Nestlé, and Walmart. Thus, the data of breeders, suppliers, processors, traders, retailers not only to all parties involved but also to the supervisory authorities and consumers are available. So every transaction can be traced and all information about the food can be viewed. With all members of the food system having access to the blockchain, contaminated food can be quickly removed from the production and supply chain before it reaches the shelf.

The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) “tracks” fish and seafood using blockchain technology. In this project, the technology should help in the fight against illegal fishing. However, full traceability of fish and seafood is also of interest to fish wholesalers and fish retailers, as they want to prevent their products or brands from being associated with illegal activities.

“CONSUMERS ARE ALSO INCREASINGLY SLANDERING FOR FULLY TRACEABLE FISH AND SEAFOOD THAT ARE NOT FROM ILLEGAL FISHING,” says Bubba Cook, WWF’s Western Central Pacific Tuna Program Manager.

5. Humanitarian Crises

Blockchain technology is not just used by companies. The United Nations currently uses blockchain technology in 16 areas, including:

· World Food Program (Refugee Aid)

· Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (donor financing, safeguarding, and monitoring of supply chains)

In addition, it is currently being investigated how blockchain technology can be used to tackle current problems, such as child trafficking, according to Mahrinah von Schlegel, Managing Director of Nonprofit Embassy 2.0.

As part of the public-private partnership ID2020, Microsoft and Accenture have announced a partnership. The goal is to give 1.1 billion people a legal form of identity and identification using blockchain technology.

6. Jewelry

In collaboration with Everledger, the jewelry company Brilliant Earth intends to use blockchain technology to accurately track the origins of diamonds and other gems. This ensures that only conflict-free stones are processed.

Prospective Reflections on Computers and Technology

0

[ad_1]

The millennium era is the season for information technology, internet and computers. They become the parts and parcel of our daily life. We cannot dream of living without them. In order to honor them, I provide in this article, various prospective reflections on computers and technology.

Here they are:

  • Technology is ruled by two types of people: those who manage what they do not understand and those who understand what they do not manage.
  • Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.
  • The first rule of any technology used in a business is that automation applied to an efficient operation will magnify the efficiency. The second is that automation applied to an inefficient operation will magnify the inefficiency.
  • Information Technology and business are becoming inextricably interwoven. I don’t think anybody can meaningfully talk about one without talking about the other.
  • Technology is nothing. What’s important is that you have a faith in people, that they are basically good and smart and if you give them tools, they will do wonderful things with them.
  • Every once in a while, a new technology, an old problem and a big idea turn into an innovation.
  • The science of today is the technology of tomorrow.
  • I think it’s fair to say that personal computers have become the most empowering tool we’ve ever created. They are tools of communication, they are tools of creativity and they can be shaped by their user.
  • Treat your password like a toothbrush. Don’t let anybody else use it and get a new one every six months.
  • The next major explosion is going to be when genetics and computers come together. I am talking about an organic computer – about biological substances that can function like a semiconductor.
  • Computing is not about computers anymore. It is about living.
  • With all the abundance we have of computers and computing, what is scarce is human attention and time.
  • The new information technology – internet and email – have practically eliminated the physical costs of communications.
  • Part of the inhumanity of the computer is that, once it is competently programmed and working smoothly, it is completely honest.
  • By the time we get to the 2040s, we’ll be able to multiply human intelligence a billion-fold. That will be a profound change that’s singular in nature. Computers are going to keep getting smaller and smaller. Ultimately, they will go inside our bodies and brains and make us healthier and smarter.

Summing up, those are quite a few reflections on computers and technology that speak boldly on their prospects, importance and efficiency.

Is Biometric Technology the Key to a Bright Future?

0

[ad_1]

With so many terrorist attacks which have kept the safety of the people at stake, the question of the security of the people has become of a great concern. Whether it is your office, open place or any other private segments one does not feel completely safe.

So we need to enhance the innovative technology that gives us the best battle and can be utilised to stop all that concerns the safety of the citizens. We require better execution of the innovation and gadgets to battle against these sorts of fear based oppressor exercises and us as a whole realise that safety measure is much more superior to cure. So here we will discuss the biometric technology and the gadgets or devices which it can coordinate with to enhance the security of premises as well as of the people.

The working of the biometric industry is very simple yet very unique. This is the main reason why so many people are deciding to take up the security services for the betterment of the people and to ensure the efficient working and the establishment of a proper working environment as expected by all the employees.

Working

It depends on the physiological and behavioural characteristic of the human body. We can utilise this framework as a verification of the specific identity of any person by his sensitive entrance. It stores these characteristics and when the other person tries to get through the framework then it filters its focal database. Further, the system checks whether it locates any appropriate matches amongst the stored ones or not. In the event that it discovers a similar characteristic, it will coordinate and will also permit to get to the framework. If the system fails to identify, a caution window will be displayed which shall be indicated by the predefined system of setting.

Along with the above-stated working, the biometric security is known to utilise all the registered characteristics of the individuals. It acts as a watch guard for all the employees of any firm or organisation. The system ensures a high level of security of the working employees.

There is a common query of security mostly prevailing in the open areas which have more of the public gatherings. By and large the issues related to personalization and security additionally happen in broad daylight divisions like inns, hotels, shopping centres and schools. So in these kinds of places and events, we can coordinate the biometric security and biometric gadgets.

The shortcomings of the currently prevailing technology and methods are some of the major drawbacks which cannot be avoided. Because of all this, the biometric technology is being hired which is not only covering all the shortcomings and drawbacks of the traditionally available security systems but is also ensuring a greater security space to all the members of an organisation.

Most houses and work environments are known to utilise biometric innovation to ensure the safety of the most valuable items. In the future which is believed to be highly technological and specialised, things like the biometric technology will only tend to stay.

Pros and Cons of Targeting Federal Government For Funding of Technology Grants Non Profit

0

[ad_1]

When searching for technology grants one should look at the pros and cons of targeting federal government for funding of technology grants for non-profit business. When seeking funding for programs I think that there are three advantages of targeting the federal government 1. The money is certain, 2. There is easy access to information, and 3. The larger orders, thus more profit. Whereas, three disadvantages would be: extensive bid proposal, considerable amounts of paper work throughout maintaining the contract, and the competition is great.

The first advantage that I listed is that the money is certain. If my company were to get a contract for business from the government they would be certain to be paid. It would cut out the late payment or the collections process that we currently have dealing with smaller entities or individuals. The second advantage to target the federal government is that the government may provide easier accessibility for information for its contractors through up- to- date internet sites, which you don’t always have access to with smaller suppliers. Finally, the third advantage I see is that larger orders equal’s larger profit. Securing a government contract would most likely be a substantial order and profit for our company which would be worth any hurdles we may have to jump through in the long run.

The first disadvantage I see to targeting the federal government is that there is most likely an extensive bid proposal process. We have submitted bids for local suppliers that do not even compare to the possible several hundred pages that a government proposal might contain. This would mean many physical hours invested in preparing the bid for proposal. Secondly, I think that a major disadvantage for my company if we were to secure a government bid is that there would be considerable amounts of paperwork involved in order to maintain the contract. The government is under the public eye and thus set-forth strict regulations that the suppliers must follow, which includes much paperwork! This would again, involve many hours to keep up with this obligation. The third disadvantage I believe is that the competition would be tremendous. Even though governments are asked to favor smaller businesses, I think the competition among those smaller businesses would be very great. I feel that my company would be at a disadvantage compared to other competitors simply based on the fact that first, we are not a depressed business and second that we are not a minority owned business.

Having said all this, I would advise my company leadership to “go for it”! I think they should pursue a government contract and I justify this by saying I think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages in our situation. I think the potential profit alone would justify my recommendation. However, before making that final decision to pursue, I would also recommend to my company that they review our current budget and make sure that the cost of the extra hours involved in preparing the bid proposal would be affordable even if the contract was not awarded. Then, of course, if the contract is awarded the cost of maintaining the paperwork needs to be considered as well.

Information Technology and the Global Village

0

[ad_1]

The advancement in technology has certainly had a major effect on the lives of many. This world is becoming a global village and distances no longer a problem. Communications and mass information is just a few clicks away; thanks to the computer related technology, more specifically the utility of internet, which is a part of the information technology.

Social networking websites and chat related applications are now presenting quite a number of advantages to the users. They reduce distances between the users and help them connect with relatives and friends from all over the world. The aim of any social networking site is to make the application and utility user friendly.

With the technological changes and new developments occurring every day, internet users no longer have to face the problems online that they had to face lately due to technical glitches, which resulted in frustration. Now the users no longer have to rummage through heaps of messages to access a particular conversation or read at hyperactive speeds just to keep in touch with the discussion on hand. The systems have become more streamlined and responsive and thus more convenient to the users.

This constant and rapid change in web technology has opened many windows of opportunity for both the users and the developers. The users now have more options to switch to and the developers have to work to develop newer, better, efficient and easy to use portals.

In its early days, E-commerce existed simply as a form of facilitation for commercial and financial transactions. It is one of the few things that have changed with the passage of time. This historic turning of e-commerce occurred about three decades ago.

Technologies such as electronic data exchange and electronic funds transfer have been introduced and they had a revolutionary effect because these allowed the businesses to communicate the commercial documents such as the basics of purchase orders and invoices via electronic network systems securely. The growth of telephonic banking services, credit card transactions and automated teller machines has added a new dimension to e-commerce. There are still innumerable aspects of business and other related issues that are growing as per the users need and the information technology is providing a highly efficient and secure platform to them.

Electronic payment systems have become the engine for almost all online transactions. The major electronic payment systems that govern current online transactions are credit card processing systems and electronic payment gateways. The electronic payment gateways are the companies that facilitate financial transactions online by authenticating credit cards and online bank accounts authorizing certain transactions. They basically form the virtual connectivity between merchant’s website and the credit card companies; this sure reduces the hassle of long bank queues and offer purchasing options when ever and where ever any one pleases to have these while utilizing the splendors of computer technology.

The information technology has come a long way and is ever evolving. It has truly made the world a global village.

What Is the Most Important New Technology for Solving World Problems?

0

[ad_1]

Years ago people of one country had to communicate with another country through analog telephones, fax and hand-written letters which was time consuming. With the advent of much newer technologies, it is possible now to correspond with one another conveniently and happily. The article focuses on this aspect. So read on to find out.

Solving world problems involves people. And they can use the technologies of cell phone, email and Skype to correspond, hold conversations and come to an agreement or solution.

With cell phones you can share your opinions in short and let each other know your point of views on a topic. Later you can go on Skype, going in more details. You can pursue the follow-ups of your conversations through email.

You can add people in a group on Skype; so can you can form a group in an email account such as Gmail. You can add or delete people as you like. The main idea is to work with a team of people to solve world problems.

You need to make your email and Skype accounts secure with strong passwords so that nobody is able to hack them. Your phone calls should be confidential and if you are using Viber, its password needs to be secure as well.

You may want to keep separate accounts for the important team of people so that you do not juggle up the conversations with your other less involved friends. That way you can track where you left off with your team of people regarding a world problem issue.

United States, Europe, Asia and Africa all need to contact with each other to solve their problems. So it is imperative that you have your own schedule about when to communicate with others via online meetings. It is good to send pre-written emails to your team/group to gently remind them about upcoming virtual meetings via the certain technology.

It would be a good idea to bring all of the people involved in a certain place to hold views and conversations. But virtual meetings are much better to hold reducing the cost of expenditure for stay in hotels and flights and therefore, saving time and energy.

So I would suggest cell phone, Skype and email correspondence are the best technologies to communicate with one another, discussing views in a group and finally coming to a solution for a world problem after a round of several virtual meetings.
